When ESAB Welding & Cutting Products acquired Gas Control Equipment (GCE) in October 2018, many an eyebrow were raised at the synergies of the combination. Indeed, it essentially brought the GCE business full circle, having begun life in 1987 as the result of a merger between the welding businesses of AGA and ESAB.
The deal almost three years ago came at a time of brisk mergers and acquisitions (M&A) activity within the industrial gas and equipment business, but stood out in how it would create a leading global provider of flow control and oxyfuel solutions.
GCE is a leader in European gas equipment, offering full solutions for general industrial, healthcare, high-purity and science and research applications. ESAB Welding & Cutting Products, meanwhile, is a recognised leader in the welding and cutting industry.
