An introduction to…LNG pumps

Liquefied natural gas, or LNG, is natural gas that has been cooled down to approximately -162°C at 1 bar. As LNG occupies approximately 1/600th the space than in its gaseous state, it can be stored and transported by specially designed LNG carriers, cryogenic road tankers or railroad tankers.

In other words, LNG allows other distribution alternatives to the traditional natural gas pipelines. LNG is a clear, odourless and non-toxic liquid, but hazards include freezing, asphyxia and flammability under certain circumstances.
