Building a bright workforce

If you get the opportunity to tour the facility of gas cylinder supplier Cyl-Tec, Inc. in Aurora Illinois, you’ll notice a unique addition to the company’s main office that was incorporated into the building renovations a few years back. This addition comes in the form of a 12,000 square foot training center, suitable for multi-day conferences, day seminars, personal training, or in-house business meetings.

The opening of Cyl-Tec’s training center comes at a crucial time for the industrial gases industry, a time at when finding the right employees is a difficult task. Labor shortages in the US have unfortunately been a withstanding concern since the coronavirus pandemic (Covid-19) hit and changed life as we knew it – and since, getting a sizeable team of well-trained professionals has been a headwind felt by the vast majority of business owners. 

For many, having to continue business with a tightened workforce has resulted in having to change the way a normal workplace operates, whether this is through extended delivery times, having to consider automated processes or scaling-back a particular business area. However, the labor shortage goes further than this, as gasworld touched upon in its Q4 2021 Baird Survey.
