Currently, there are various types of bulk tanks for liquid hydrogen, which differ from each other in shape, size, working pressure, applied thermal insulation and purpose. Selection of parameters of stationary tanks is determined by the tasks that can be solved when creating cryogenic systems for different applications.
This article is about the Uralcryomash experience in designing and manufacturing a new generation of stationary storage tanks for high purity liquid hydrogen, with a capacity of around 100m3. When creating cryogenic fuelling systems of space-rocket complexes, as a rule, storage tanks with a capacity of 100-250m3 and working pressure of 0.5-1.6 MPa are used
For reference, a tank with capacity of 250m3 corresponds to the maximum permissible dimension of the vessel transported by rail.
