Located near the busy crossroads of Interstates 81 and 90 in Syracuse, New York is a recognized leader in cryocooler design and manufacturing.
In 1963, Professor William Gifford (part of the team that invented the Gifford McMahon (GM) Cycle of cryorefrigeration) saw an opportunity to develop and market cryogenic systems while working at Syracuse University. It was then that he founded Cryomech, Inc., giving him a blank slate to continue his research in the field of cryogenics while providing GM cryocooler solutions to his colleagues in many other scientific fields.
Gifford McMahon and Pulse Tube (PT) cryocoolers allow users to operate and study at cryogenic temperatures on a smaller scale and without using liquid cryogens. Today, Cryomech offers over 55 different “standard” products, including nitrogen plants and helium management systems. Its primary products remain single stage GM cryocoolers as well as single stage and two stage Pulse Tubes.
