In a world moving so rapidly forward in technology and digitisation, it’s understandable that our healthcare systems will soon undergo significant change, if they are not already.

Not only is healthcare and wellbeing the number one priority for us all, a lesson so painfully reinforced during the last 18 months of the pandemic, the sheer cost of maintaining this fundamental for human life is at times overwhelming for governments.

Ageing populations, the emergence of new diseases and various lifestyle factors have all contributed to healthcare systems under pressure like never before. Even prior to Covid-19, this was the case. Governments and administrations the world over have sought to strike a balance between providing the best level of healthcare possible, while also ensuring that service is ‘affordable’ related to GDP and maximising all margins that exist. The advent of Industry 4.0 technologies, digitisation and telemedicine could offer an opportunity to better realise that balance.
