Earlbeck Gases & Technologies has been selected as the winner of the 2017 Excellence in Welding Award recipient in the Educational Facility category from the American Welding Society (AWS) and WEMCO, an association of welding manufacturers. The awards were announced last November at the FABTECH conference in Chicago.
Baltimore-based Earlbeck Gases & Technologies dates back to 1919 (the same year the AWS was founded), when it was first formed as the T.A. Canty Company, a wholesale welding products distributorship. In 1952, Al Earlbeck, who had been with the business for 13 years, took ownership of the business and renamed the company Earlbeck Welding Supplies. It has been a family-owned business ever since.
Earlbeck Gases & Technologies got into the education market in the late 1950s when Earlbeck began providing its customers with technical support and customer education through one-on-one training and seminars. Training operations formalized in the 1960s with two booths to teach customers how to operate purchased equipment.
