Electrolysers: Helping to decarbonise the energy market

Recent developments make it clear – the time for hydrogen is now. As we rebuild from the COVID-19 pandemic, we have an opportunity to use global government stimulus programmes to set the course for a new future – one that invests in new energy sources, like hydrogen, and serves all communities. New infrastructure spending should protect our resources and serve all people, ensuring a future where everyone enjoys the benefits of clean air and economic prosperity.

Renewably sourced energy (wind, solar and hydroelectric) is key to decarbonising the energy market. However, renewable energy sources are intermittent and integrating them into the grid is challenging due to the increasing need for grid flexibility and energy storage solutions.

Hydrogen, as a means to store power, is well suited to address these challenges. It enables renewable power to more easily be utilised outside the electric grid, like fuel for fuel cell vehicles, or even to supplement natural gas for heating. Put simply, the electrolyser is key to decarbonising energy storage.
