No two days are the same at Karpowership, says Managing Director Zeynep Harezi. It’s little wonder. The company is the only owner, operator and builder of the first Powership – or floating power plant – fleet in the world.
Since 2010, 30 Powerships have been completed with a total installed energy capacity exceeding 5,000 MW (megawatts), with another 3,500 MW either under construction or in the pipeline.
Those Powerships have supplied and have been supplying varying percentages of the total electricity generation of a wide range of countries, from Gambia, Ghana and Guinea Bissau to Senegal, Sierra Leone and Southern Iraq. Even Cuba has had as much as 10% of its total electricity generation met by Powership supply.
