We are currently witnessing a shift in the application of PI&T technologies globally, with a balancing of the traditional methods alongside the very latest techniques and thinking.
Previously, some industries adopted the latest technology but neglected to apply essential traditional techniques – such as visual examinations – which created integrity issues. The full visual inspection had long-established itself as a ‘must have’ when it comes to the most thorough inspection and testing regimes.
Other industries relied solely on the traditional methods, ignoring modern techniques (including ultrasonic and acoustic emission testing) which would have proved beneficial. Recent years had seen the application of test techniques from other industries.
