If you are a large company with more than 500 employees you’re already in the middle of dealing with compliance issues surrounding the provisions of the US government’s Food Safety and Modernization Act (FSMA). As for everyone else, primarily most of our readership in the industrial gas manufacturing, and gases and welding distribution space, it’s time now to start paying attention.
You see, if you distribute or dispense gases for the food and beverage industry, you are now considered a food processing plant, and thus must comply with these sweeping new regulations being handed down from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
The large companies were required to start complying last October, but the enactment deadline for medium companies (over a million in food sales plus the value of inventory) is this October 1. Companies under $1m in revenue have until Oct. 1, 2018 to get on board.
