In focus… Hydrogen storage and containment

Just two months into 2020 and Luxfer Gas Cylinder’s order book for hydrogen storage systems has seen a marked increase compared to 2019 – a trend the UK-based company expects to continue into 2021.

The world’s largest producer of gas cylinders has been manufacturing hydrogen cylinders since the company’s inception in the 1950s, and delivering hydrogen cars and buses onto the streets of Europe since 2002.

Whilst hydrogen was eclipsed by the take up of compressed natural gas in public transport in the early 2000s, Jim Gregory, European Business Development Manager for Alternative Fuel at Luxfer Gas Cylinders, said things have changed rapidly in the hydrogen space in the last three years, thanks to the level of commitment from European and Asian governments.
