Microbreweries are quickly becoming a large segment of carbon dioxide (CO2) users in Colorado. This trend is common across the country, with increasing impact in Denver and the entire state of Colorado. According to the Brewer’s Association (brewersassociation.org) there are currently nearly 2,000 craft breweries in the United States. Colorado is ranked third in the nation, having 232 microbreweries that are producing over 1.5 million barrels of beer per year. This represents growth of more than 100 percent over the past three years.
Local community brewpubs have become increasingly popular as more and more beer consumers are demanding a beer catered toward their specific tastes. This growing cohort of beer consumers also want to know where their beer comes from. With a vast array of craft beer offerings, this burgeoning business seems to offer something for everyone. The popularity of craft beers and microbreweries is no surprise. Craft beers have more flavor than mass produced brands and beer consumers enjoy the individuality of being able to drink a unique beer that is locally made.
