Is the UK ready for hydrogen energy? AFC Energy’s CEO, Adam Bond, shares his feelings

It isn’t unusual for countries, which are the birthplace of a product, to eventually almost be forgotten for the role it played in history.

Whether the UK played any role in the creation of the World Wide Web (WWW) isn’t up for discussion here. The fact is Sir Tim Berners-Lee invented it, who was born in London, but the Silicon Valley based giants of Microsoft and Apple have transformed it into how we all see it today. It’s technological evolution.

But, breaking this tradition, the UK doesn’t follow the trend.

In 1839, long before anyone ‘thought’ of it, Sir William Grove invented the first fuel cell – earning the moniker ‘Father of the Fuel Cell’. Fast-forward to the current day, and the UK has companies burning a bright path for the future development of the hydrogen industry – specifically for energy creation – namely AFC Energy.
