The hydrogen gas is produced via the electrolysis of water, splitting water into hydrogen and oxygen. Electrolysis needs only water and an electrical supply, and this electrical supply can be provided from renewable energy. This enables the gas to be made onsite, where it is required, often in remote areas where fuel deliveries are difficult or expensive.
