Kawser Corporation (KCO) is an independent company providing expertise and consultancy services for local and regional gas companies to enhance their specialty gases capabilities. Until recently, the specialty gases expertise has been the domain of major gas companies such as Linde and Air Liquide.
The global specialty gases business is worth around $5-8bn, or 5-8% of the total industrial gases market, and has the following distinct characteristics:
- The highest return on investment. Every dollar invested returns annually around $1.2, compared to tonnage plants, which generally provides less than $0.2 for every dollar. Further, the investment requirement for specialty gas plants is generally smaller (less than 10%) compared to tonnage plants.
- The highest profitability – gross profit sits above 35% (tonnage 10-15%).
