From commercialising NASA’s space programme technology in the 1970s and pioneering lightweight aluminium composites, through to the more recent development of its high strength, lightweight L7X® alloy, Luxfer Gas Cylinders has always been at the forefront of innovation.
Luxfer Gas Cylinders is the world’s largest manufacturer of high-pressure aluminium and composite cylinders. The company has been manufacturing cylinders for 75 years – since 1941 in France, where it invented the hot-extruded aluminium cylinder; since 1958 in England, where it invented the cold-extruded aluminium cylinder; and since 1971 in the US, where it first made composite cylinders. Luxfer still operates manufacturing facilities in those countries, as well as in Canada, China and India, and the company also has a strong worldwide distributor network, including representatives in rapid-growth markets like the Middle East and Latin America.
Primary gas-containment markets for Luxfer cylinders include medical, life support for firefighters and other first responders, alternative fuel, beverage, fire extinguishers, specialty gases for electronics and pharmaceutical manufacturing, scuba diving, automotive, aerospace and inflation.
