Necessity is the mother of invention, as the famous proverb goes. Today, we might say, ‘when life gives you lemons, make lemonade’. When an intensive study of the global helium business gave some rather damning conclusions about its security of supply, a market imperative gave us Noble Helium.
Born out of a situation of impending crisis, Brisbane-based Noble Helium Pty Ltd was formed in early 2017 following a study into the global helium market. The study demonstrated that the helium market was indeed facing more protracted shortages in the near term, especially with the planned closure of the US Bureau of Land Management (BLM) pipeline to commercial customers in September 2021 and the loss of a resource that had so long been the flywheel – or perhaps the security blanket – of the global industry.
