Never standing still: HOYER on bulk gases and the continuous journey of optimisation

It’s been a challenging year in the haulage and transportation sector. Despite a return to many semblances of reality following the first and worst waves of the Covid-19 pandemic, there’s been a strain on the people, processes and companies delivering the products we so need across industry and society.

We’ve all heard the stories of driver shortages as a result of either the ‘pingdemic’ or the newfound migration of skills into other areas; we’ve heard of port closures in various countries or regions; and we’re all familiar with surges in demand for many products post-pandemic, which are placing significant strain on supply chains and infrastructure. Then look at challenges up close and personal to the gases industry: the scramble for carbon dioxide (CO2) imports and supply in the UK and parts of Europe in recent months inevitably requires the intermodal logistics to ship and deliver that product.

Any logistics specialists could be forgiven for feeling the strain of meeting and exceeding such expectations in the context of such headwinds. And yet for a company like the HOYER Group, with its rich history of 75 years in handling and transporting both gaseous and liquid goods, these are just the latest obstacles to be navigated in a journey of continuous evolution and optimisation.
