This year sees OJSC Uralcryomash, part of Uralvagonzavod Research and Production Corporation, celebrates its 60th anniversary.
Though actual cryogenic production began two years earlier, 1st October 1954 is considered the company’s foundation date when, under a Regulation of the CPSU Central Committee and the Council of Ministers of the USSR, a special design office (OKB-250) for cryogenic and ground operation equipment, was formed.
Serial production of a new liquid oxygen rail tank car was also launched in 1954 and marked the creation of a new production branch in the country – cryogenic transport rail car building.
