From March 18–21, for the first time ever, the 2013 Pittsburgh Conference on Analytical Chemistry and Applied Spectroscopy (Pittcon) (pittcon.org) came to the Philadelphia Conference Center in downtown Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. By all indications, it won’t be the last time this always popular annual event is held there.
The newly refurbished Conference Center easily accommodated the more than 18,000 attendees and 1,011 exhibiting companies from 28 countries, including 167 first-time exhibitors, who showcased the latest innovations in instrumentation and analytical equipment from leading companies. It also marked the beginning of a partnership between Pittcon and Innovative Publishing, publishers of Food Safety Tech and organizers of the Food Labs Conference. This strategic partnership introduced the co-location of the Food Labs Conference with Pittcon.
Pittcon 2013 President Ronald Bargiel was very positive about the overall results of this twoday conference, commenting, “The food industry is one of Pittcon’s top industries for growth. We are excited about this newly formed partnership with Food Safety Tech and look forward to working jointly to increase Pittcon’s presence in the food industry.”
Visitors to the 64th Pittcon Conference could participate in live equipment demos, take advantage of onsite purchase discounts from vendors, and compare and evaluate products, pricing, and services from different companies. Eighty percent of the attendees are key decision makers who rely on the exposition to identify or finalize the purchase of laboratory products for their organizations. Vendors were available to answer questions and solve problems, introductions were made, and plenty of networking occurred over the four (mostly) sunny days. CryoGas team members were excited to see many of our customers and readers—and to meet potential new ones—at this year’s show. Here are just a few of the companies whose products or demonstrations made an impression.
