Undoubtedly one of the biggest stories in Europe in 2016 was the ‘Brexit’, as Britain voted in a referendum to leave the European Union (EU) and speculation swirled as to whether that could cause a ripple effect throughout a number of the 27 remaining countries in the union.
As the first full nation state to leave the EU, it remains to be seen whether other member states could be tempted to follow the UK’s suit and effectively undermine the union as it is known today. Though unlikely, the notion creates ongoing uncertainty in the region as we head into 2017.
With such uncertainty prevailing in so many markets, here we look at what we do know about the industrial gas markets of Western Europe, with 2015 data from gasworld Business Intelligence.
