Both the words ‘standard’ and ‘safe’ have played an important part of my life working with gas cylinder packages over the past several decades. So you can imagine my joy when the Editor requested that I write an article as per the above title.
However, in recent years users of gas cylinders have taken the safety aspects for granted and have focused their attention on ensuring that the package’s cosmetic aspects are pristine. The high degree of safety and hence a low incident rate has been the result of:
