Safety Information: “On-Call” and Online for GAWDA Members

Distributor and supplier members of the Gases and Welding Distributors Association (GAWDA) never feel alone regarding safety best practices and regulation updates in their business operations.

GAWDA’s DOT, OSHA, and EPA consultant is available to members at all times. Michael Dodd, of MLD Safety Associates, offers on-site specialized training, safety audits, and regular information updates. GAWDA’s Safety Committee (comprised of members focused on issues facing welding and gases distributors and suppliers) also ensures that safe practices and protection information is available for the utmost employee and customer safety — and to protect business interests.

One of Dodd’s offerings is a one-day DOT Compliance Audit. He calls it, “the single most important thing that you could do for your company.” The audit is comparable to the inspection and audit the DOT itself would conduct. It is performed along with a training, and it provides a detailed report on elements that may need correcting. “It’s been a real eye-opener for many members that thought they were doing everything correctly, and it has saved members from severe and costly DOT penalties,” Dodd says.
