The key patents of large-scale natural gas liquefaction that were established around the 1930s have paved the way for companies to flourish in today’s liquefied natural gas (LNG) sector, with the amount of applications and opportunities in the segment growing ever since.
For those within the industrial gas industry, equipment and process synergies between the two sectors signalled a smooth transition into new territories, opening new doors and added revenue streams for businesses that manufacture cryogenic equipment for the industrial gas sector, such as cryogenic valves, to enter the budding market for LNG.
The LNG market, therefore, has had an impact on the businesses that manufacture cryogenic valves – and it continues to have a parallel effect today. As Keith Stewart, Managing Director of HEROSE UK Ltd, explains, “A busy LNG market increases opportunities and sales of valves, pumps, vessels and other associated products for the equipment manufacturers who supply the industrial gas markets.”
