Sustainable Innovations – Products for energy and industrial application

In our news this month is a story on Sustainable Innovations (SI), a company developing revolutionary products for energy and industrial applications. SI’s hydrogen-based energy conservation system (HECS) will be used to recover H2 from waste streams at NASA Stennis Space Centre (SSC) in Mississippi.

The first-of-its-kind, solid state system is designed to recover H2 released from cryogenic storage or to separate H2 from helium used in rocket test operation.

Sustainable Innovations has its headquarters in East Hartford, Connecticut and was founded in 2000 by Dr. Trent Molter, who has been active in the hydrogen and fuel cell community since 1984. Readers of gasworld US will be familiar with Dr. Molter’s work, as he co-founded Proton Energy Systems, Inc. (now Proton OnSite) in 1996, a business that commercialized Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) technology. This year Proton OnSite was acquired by Nel ASA of Norway in a deal that created the world’s largest electrolyzer company.
