The industrial gas market in the Mid-Atlantic region generated revenues of approximately $2,644m in 2020. This comes from $1,863m in 2010, indicating a compound annual growth rate of 3.56% p.a. for the decade. The Mid-Atlantic region’s gas market declined -3.63% in 2020, compared to a 4.8% growth in 2019, due to the impact of the coronavirus pandemic.
The largest gas company in the Mid-Atlantic was Linde plc with estimated revenues of $934m – equating to a market share of 35%. The next largest companies were Air Liquide and Messer with estimated revenues of $671m and $303m, equating to market shares of 25% and 11% respectively.
The largest revenue generating supply mode in the Mid-Atlantic was gas delivered by cylinder, accounting for an estimated $1,446m – this equated to 55% of the total gas market. Bulk sales were the second largest revenue generator, with approximately $964m (36%) attributable to this mode of supply, then we see OSP sales accounted for around $183m (7%).
