Virtual reality is quickly becoming a phrase that we are starting to hear more and more in everyday life, especially when it comes to the likes of the gaming industry or in a theme park setting. Whilst the technology may seem like a very modern innovation, however, the welding industry has already taken virtual reality just that one step further and is setting a new trend.
Enter augmented reality. A live view of the physical, real-world environment in which elements are augmented by a computer and software. In the welding space particularly, augmented reality is becoming a growing trend as companies look to train new staff or students, to build a future workforce, or help train existing welders that are looking to develop new skills.
For Wisconsin-based Miller, augmented reality has really reshaped the traditional world of welding for the better. This was what gasworld heard when we recently took the time to sit down with Emily Nelson, Marketing Specialist at Miller, to discuss the importance of staying on top of modern welding technologies to help build an esteemed workforce in an efficient and safe manner.
