Under control – Trends in valves and regulators

As with the wider gases industry, there is no one single trend in the industrial gas valves business right now, rather a set of overarching megatrends that are shaping growth in this business. These range from healthcare and homecare to hydrogen and clean fuels, all of which encompass digitisation in-between.

One of the hot topics in the industrial gases business in the last decade has been the specialty gases sector, a further niche within the niche that so many companies have been keen to get into, such has been its high-growth potential over recent years. Among the growth drivers for the specialty gases business itself is the microelectronics sector, which has been enjoying something of a renaissance at the hands of vigorous device demand and the wave of IoT (Internet of Things) related technologies. This requires increasing volumes of electronics gases, increasing scope or range of these electronics materials (EMs), and increasing purities to match.

What this also generates is the requirement for higher performance valves, regulators and fittings to equip the latest ultra-high purity (UHP) gas system installations. As a world-leading producer of gas control cylinder valves, pressure regulators, equipment and fittings, Rotarex has been responding to these demands in recent years with the design of its M4SI EVO/line valves and equipment.
