We have all seen it — tank trailers on the highway with smoke coming out of them. But is it really smoke?
All too often, vapor released from tank trailers transporting liquefied nitrogen and other atmospheric gases is mistaken for smoke. This can result in an unnecessary call-out of emergency responders.
These call-outs are unfair. They consume time better spent elsewhere, tie up emergency resources, and come at a significant financial cost to both transportation companies and responders. After talking to and providing a training program for local responders, Kevin Mathews, President and CEO of GenOx Transportation, Inc., decided it was time to offer this training to a broader audience throughout Texas and Louisiana.
