Zeus Development Corporation’s World LNG Fuels 2013 Conference & Exhibition was held at the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston, Texas on January 21–23. Eight hundred people representing 450 companies attended the event, 54 presenters and speakers participated in the conference, and 25 companies had promotional booths at the exhibition.
The conference featured keynote speakers, an executive leadership panel, and a key issues panel, all fielded by high level experts and captains of industry. Questions from the audience also were taken by panel members, which added a lot of insight to the discussions. The World LNG Fuels conference had an exhibition portion as well, with most exhibitors reporting that they were pleased with the traffic at their booths and the number of potential customers that showed interest in their products or services.
George Yates, Chairman and CEO of HEYCO Energy Group and Chairman Emeritus of the Independent Petroleum Association of America and the Natural Gas Council, noted that horizontal drilling and multi-stage completions (fracking) are the most important energy developments in decades. The technology is applicable to both oil and gas wells. Yates, like so many in attendance, is very proud of the technology developed by domestic producers.
When asked what could derail the current trends in natural gas production, Yates replied: “There is a low probability that anything will screw it up unless there is a sustained global economic contraction, or too restrictive government regulation. There is too much momentum for the forces of darkness to overcome this.”
