326 H2 buses added to England’s fleets

Birmingham is soon to operate a fleet of hydrogen-powered busses after the government awarded £3m to a city council-led partnership project by the Department for Transport and the Office for Low Emissions Vehicles.

A total of £30m has been distributed between 13 successful bidders across England (bus operators and local authorities) to buy low emission buses, install charge points and build necessary infrastructure.

326 buses – including electric, hybrid, hydrogen and biomethane buses – will be added to their fleets, and more than £7m worth of infrastructure will be installed.
