There has been a 51% increase of biomethane plants in Europe over the past two years, from 483 in 2018 to 729 in 2020.
That’s according to the European Biomethane Map 2020, released today by the European Biogas Association (EBA) and Gas Infrastructure Europe (GIE).
There are currently 18 countries producing biomethane in Europe, with Germany having the highest share of plants (232), followed by France (131) and the UK (80).
In the map, readers will find the locations listed of all known biomethane installations currently running in Europe.
