A new project has set out to identify policies and actions that will facilitate the capture, storage and use of carbon dioxide (CO2) in Texas.
The Cynthia and George Mitchell Foundation is funding the project at Rice University’s Baker Institute for Public Policy, in hope to kick-start collaborative action to reduce industrial greenhouse gas emissions in the Texas Gulf Coast region.
Led by the Baker Institute’s Centre for Energy Studies, the project brings together representatives of industry, environmental groups, academic and other stakeholders.
Ken Medlock, Senior Director of the Centre for Energy Studies, is coordinating the effort which will examine various region-specific policy pathways that can be used by state and local officials to develop the most effective carbon capture policy.
