AFC Energy, an industrial fuel cell power company, has signed a strategic engineering partnership and services agreement with Germany-based engineering consultancy plantIng GmbH.
The contract seeks to support the optimisation and rollout of AFC Energy’s industrial alkaline fuel cell system, which was successfully commissioned for the first time in Germany last month.
Although an exact figure was not disclosed, in a press release it stated that plantIng will make a “significant investment” of its time and resources under the Engineering Agreement, and aims to drive further project development opportunities amongst existing and prospective clients.
“This marks a new start for the outsourcing of non-core engineering services required for the optimisation of AFC Energy’s fuel cell system design ready for commercialisation.”
The new agreement focuses on developing and enhancing the design, packaging and cost of the Balance of Plant (BoP) fuel cell, for optimised designs ranging from 240 kilowatt (kW) to 1 megawatt electric (MWe) hydrogen (H2) fuel cell projects.
