Aker Solutions and Norcem, a subsidiary of HeidelbergCement, have signed an agreement for the engineering, procurement and construction delivery of a carbon capture, liquification and intermediate storage plant in Norway.
Located at Norcem’s cement factory in Brevik, the carbon capture plant will be part of the Norwegian carbon capture demonstration project that will be funded by the Norwegian Government.
If approved for state funding, the plant could become the world’s first large-scale capture plant at a cement producer, capturing 400,000 metric tonnes of CO2 annually to be transported to the Northern Lights project for permeant storage.
