AHCA eases oxygen refill requirements

Florida’s Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) is making it easier for hurricane victims to get help.

AHCA will temporarily allow Medicaid durable medical equipment providers to provide oxygen to Medicaid participants without a prescription. This action will help Hurricane Wilma victims to get refill prescriptions filled in the wake of so many closed businesses.

Medicaid DME providers will be authorised to provide oxygen refills without a prescription until 18 November 2005.

AHCA secretary Alan Levine, said: As we work together to recover from the effects of Wilma, our top priority continues to be ensuring Florida’s most vulnerable have access to the care they depend on.”
