Carbon Engineering’s direct air capture (DAC) technology, which captures carbon dioxide (CO2) from the atmosphere, could be a key catalyst for Air Canada as it strives to achieve net-zero ambitions by 2050.
Coming together over a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) inked today (Nov 10), the Canadian duo said they plan to explore ways to accelerate the potential of Carbon Engineering’s DAC-based solutions to support the aviation energy transition.
Under such plans, the firms will look at permanent CO2 removal and innovation, sustainable aviation fuels (SAF) and the potential opportunity for Air Canada to purchase SAF made from the utilisation of Carbon Engineering’s Air to Fuel™ technology.
