Air Liquide commissions multiple biogas plants and accelerates biogas purification development

It has been revealed that Tier One giant, Air Liquide, has commissioned a total of 12 biogas purification units in the past year throughout France, the UK, Hungary and Denmark.

Through these new units, the French industrial gas corporation has tripled its biogas purification capacity on the European continent, and has become the world leader in the supply of biogas purification technologies, with an installed capacity of 160,000 m3 per hour.

Five of these units, which represent a total of €12m ($13.5m), generate long-term contracts for the production of biomethane for Europe’s natural gas grids, which supply the transportation fleets that run on bio-natural gas for vehicles (NGV).

By positioning on the entire chain from biogas purification to distribution with bio-NGV stations, Air Liquide is contributing to meeting energy and environmental challenges

Overall, Air Liquide has designed and deployed 50 biogas purification units worldwide in order to transform biogas into biomethane and inject it into the natural gas networks.
