Schülke, a subsidiary of industrial gas giant Air Liquide, has announced its acquisition of Vic Pharma, a specialist in hygiene and hospital disinfection operating in Brazil.
Vic Pharma, which was founded in 1990, is the second largest independent player in the Brazilian hygiene market and generated around €8m ($8.9m) revenue in 2015.
Thanks to this acquisition, made via a majority equity stake of 75%, Air Liquide reinforces its position in the South American Healthcare market.
Vic Pharma offers hygiene products for disinfecting surfaces and medical devices, as well as antiseptic solutions for operative care, and circulates its product range to hospitals through a wide distribution network that covers the entire South American country.
