Air Liquide will supply leading chemical company Kumho Mitsui Chemical (KMCL) with additional hydrogen and carbon monoxide in South Korea’s Yeosu National Industrial Complex, where Air Liquide operates four production units.
Announced today (13th Dec), a long-term supply contract signed between the two companies will see the industrial gas giant supporting KMCI’s expansion of methyl diphenyl diisocyanate (MDI) production by 50% – equivalent to an additional 200,000 tonnes per year.
Air Liquide will harness its fourth hydrogen and carbon monoxide unit in the Yeosu Complex to supply the gases, building upon a relationship which began 20 years ago when the companies signed their first agreement.
Commenting on the deal, Francois Abrial, Member of the Executive Committee supervising Asia Pacific at Air Liquide, said, “With this new contract, we are honoured to extend our long-term relationship with KMCI, a 20-year strategic collaboration that has enabled us to steadily build our footprint in Yeosu, a major industrial complex in South Korea, to accompany KMCI’s continued growth.”
