Having today (3rd Nov) launched the third edition of its Scientific Challenge, Air Liquide is inviting academic teams, private R&D departments, start-ups and private or public Institutes to present scientific solutions to aid in the decarbonisation of industrial ecosystems.
In line with the Group’s decarbonisation objectives laid out in its ADVANCE strategic plan, the Scientific Challenge aims to address three main topics:
- Data sharing for decarbonisation: this topic explores the use of leveraging confidential data from stakeholders to meet shared sustainability targets.
- Energy storage using ‘Essential Small Molecules’: by harnessing the storage capabilities of small molecules or processes, can Net Zero be achieved?
- Electric heating for hydrogen production: the final topic delves into the potential for electric-based heating to decarbonise the catalytic steam methane reforming (SMR) reaction.
By inviting contributions from a range of industry experts, Air Liquide aims to harness open innovation as a ‘key driving force’ of its strategy to address society’s challenges, according to Emilie Mouren-Renouard, Member of the Executive Committee supervising Innovation.
“In line with the Group’s strategic plan ADVANCE and 2050 Net Zero objective, this edition of the Scientific Challenge notably illustrates the importance of data in our continuing efforts to identify disruptive solutions and accelerate the development of the new technologies necessary to build a low carbon society,” she said.
