Air Liquide Japan has partnered the OECD Tohoku School event – which was held in Paris at end of August, highlighting the affects of the Great East Japan Earthquake.
OECD Tohoku School is an educational project launched in 2012 to foster the region’s recovery, hosted by Fukushima University in cooperation with Japan’s MEXT (Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology), and the OECD (Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development). Tohoku is the northeastern portion of Honshu, the largest island in Japan, which was strongly affected by the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake.
Since 2012, a variety of initiatives have been undertaken through this international program, by about 100 students from junior and senior high schools in three heavily damaged prefectures, Fukushima, Miyagi and Iwate.
Air Liquide Japan supported the “Grand Finale” of this two-year-and-half-long program. This event, named “The Rebirth of Tohoku”, was held on August 30-31, 2014 at Champ-de-Mars in Paris, France to promote the attractiveness and recovery of Tohoku to the world.
