Air Liquide Large Industries U.S. LP has selected CB&I to provide a large-scale hydrogen production facility that will be built at ConocoPhillips’ refinery in Rodeo, California.
The plant will supply high-purity hydrogen to meet the existing and future requirements of the Rodeo refinery and also will support future opportunities for hydrogen supply in the San Francisco area. The project has a value to CB&I in excess of $50m.
CB&I’s scope of work for the project consists of the engineering, procurement and fabrication of a 120 million standard cubic feet per day (SCFD) hydrogen plant that will be built using highly modularized fabrication techniques.
The plant will use CB&I’s proprietary HYFORMING (TM) box furnace technology for steam methane reforming that provides superior process performance within a robust mechanical environment. The project is scheduled for completion in the third quarter of 2008.
