Air Liquide has announced the construction of a PEM (proton-exchange membrane) electrolyser with a 20 megawatts (MW) capacity for the production of carbon-free hydrogen.
The 20MW electrolyser will increase the current capacity of the Tier One company’s hydrogen facility in Bécancour, Québec (Canada) by 50%.
The PEM electrolysers, with Hydrogenics technology, will serve the increasing demand for carbon-free hydrogen. The PEM will be the largest globally.
Bécancour’s proximity to major industrial markets in Canada and the US will help ensure North America’s supply of low-carbon hydrogen for both industry and mobility usage.
