Air Liquide welcomes support from the Dutch State for large-scale green hydrogen projects

The Dutch State will support Air Liquide’s large-scale renewable hydrogen projects, a decision that is expected to ‘significantly’ contribute to the decarbonisation of the Dutch and neighbouring countries’ industry.

Announced yesterday (21st Dec), the support will be provided through the Important Project of Common European Interest (IPCEI) Hy2Use programme – a subsidy initiative that the Dutch Enterprise Agency carries out on behalf of the Ministry of Economic Affairs & Climate.

The projects include ELYgator (located in Terneuzen, the Netherlands) and CurtHyl (located at the Maasvlakte 2 conversion park in Rotterdam, the Netherlands), which – combined – will produce a total of around 30,000 tonnes of green hydrogen per year without generating any carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions.

Commenting on the decision, Pascal Vinet, Senior Vice President and a Member of Air Liquide’s Executive Committee, supervising notably Europe Industries activities, said, “Air Liquide is very pleased with the Dutch authorities’ recognition of the uniqueness of its two renewable hydrogen flagship projects in the Netherlands.”
