Air Products highlights tungsten-based welding

Industrial gases company Air Products has highlighted the important uses and benefits of Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) welding – a highly sophisticated and precise arc welding method that joins almost all metals.

The welding fabrication process takes place when two or more parts of material are fused together by using pressure, heat, or both.

In TIG, the heat is provided via an electric arc between a non-consumable tungsten electrode and the workpiece.

The electrode is not melted and any filler metal needed to build up the weld profile is added separately.
