Air Products is to construct a hydrogen production facility in Detroit, Michigan, to supply Marathon Petroleum Company’s heavy oil upgrade project.
Marathon Petroleum Company is a subsidiary of Marathon Oil Corporation; its Detroit hydrogen facility is the 31st plant to be built through the global alliance between Air Products and Technip.
It will provide hydrogen and steam, with a hydrogen production capacity of more than 50m standard cubic feet per day.
Alex Masetti, Vice President of North America Tonnage Gases at Air Products said, “Increased and reliable hydrogen supply will be important to Marathon’s heavy oil upgrade project.”
