In the aftermath of the acquisition of industrial and specialty gas company Linde Gas USA LLC, Airgas Packaged Gas Business is cutting 96 jobs in Independence.
Airgas spokesman Jim Ely noted that there will be a staffing drawdown at the Rockside Woods Boulevard offices between 7th November and 31st March 2008 and as a result, the number of Airgas employees in Independence will decline to just over 30 workers from a current level of about 130.
Some workers will be given the opportunity to transfer to the company’s Cleveland-based regional office (Airgas Great Lakes), while others will receive severance benefits.
The Rockside Woods Boulevard location was home to Linde Gas USA, the US operating arm of Germany’s Linde AG. Airgas Inc, the parent company of Airgas Packaged Gas, completed the acquisition of Linde Gas USA for $310m on 30th June 2007.
