Six project proposals for the development of carbon capture and sequestration (CCS) hubs in and around Edmonton’s industrial area have been chosen by the Albertan government in Canada.

The scope of the selection includes Enbridge’s Open Access Wabamun Carbon hub, Enhance Energy’s Origins Project, a joint project involving Shell Canada, a partnership involving Wolf Midstream for a hub east of Edmonton, a Pembina Pipeline and TC Energy project, and Bison Low Carbon Ventures’ Meadowbrook Hub.
Providing the initial evaluation of location suitability is successful, companies will then be able to work with government on an agreement that provides them with the right to inject captured carbon dioxide (CO2).
